I'm not here to tell you what to do. I'm sharing what I'm learning, as I learn it. Whoever's supposed to hear it will find it.

For a long time I believed the way through was to push harder. If something ached, I worked. If something frightened me, I moved faster. It took losing nearly everything to learn that the ache was not a problem to solve — it was a door.
What I want to offer you here is not a method. I am wary of methods. They promise to hand you back to yourself in ten easy steps, and the self they return is thinner than the one you started with. What I have instead is a practice, and practices are slow. They ask only that you keep showing up, plainly, without needing the day to prove anything.
Peace is not something you seize. It is something you stop refusing.
Begin small. Sit with a question instead of answering it. Let a morning be quiet without calling it wasted. Notice how quickly the mind rushes to fill the silence, and how little the silence actually asked of you. This is the whole of it, repeated: a return, and another return, and another.
You will not feel transformed. That is not the goal, and the wish to feel transformed is only the old striving in gentler clothes. You will feel, instead, a little more here. A little more willing to let the day be what it is. Over time, that willingness is what changes everything.
